It is Tuesday again, June 24, 2014. I need to goto
school early because I do not want to be late again for the third time.
Therefore, I went to school as early as I could to be there at exactly or
before 8 am. Going to school early is quite hard for me because of the heavy
traffic on my route to school, so if wanted to be on time early in the morning,
I have to wake up earlier than the usual. Luckily, I was not late on that day
but many of my classmates are already in the classroom even though it was still
15 minutes before eight. I knew that the most of them are already here at 7 am
but they were the ones who was never late before. Those are dedicated students
hehe. I went to my favorite seat, which is at the back. I like it there because
I could close my eyes for few minutes when I feel sleepy without being noticed.
Hey, I would like to clear it; it is not my intention to sleep in there.
This is a blog about the things that I've learned in our FTS (Field Trip and Seminars) and Technopreneurship 1

Pirates of Silicon Valley - Movie Reflection
1. What are the factors that contributed to the success and failure of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur?

Started from almost nothing, Steve Jobs showed us that if we pursue on something that we believe, it will come true. Besides the skills and collaboration with expert people, the main factor that contributed to the success of Steve Jobs is his belief that the computer was going to change the world, and it was going to become what he called “the bicycle for the mind”. It would enable individuals to have this incredible capability that they never dreamed of before; He was a person of huge vision. But he was also a person that believed in the precise detail of every step. He was methodical and careful about everything a perfectionist to the end. He always looked at things from the perspective of what was the user's experience going to be. But unlike a lot of people in product marketing in those days, which would go out and do consumer testing, asking people, “What did they want?” Steve did not believe in that. He believed that showing someone a calculator, for example, would not give them any indication as to where the computer was going to go because it was just too big leap.

My Expectations for Y4IT 2014
Attending seminars is a good learning experience. When we
attend this kind of activity, we are able to learn new ideas and techniques or
even share our learning to other people. Seminars are usually interactive
sessions where the participants engage in discussions about the delineated
topic. A seminar may have several purposes or just one purpose. For instance, a
seminar may be for the purpose of education, such as a lecture, where the
participants engage in the discussion of an academic subject for the aim of gaining
a better insight into the subject. Other forms of educational seminars might be
held to impart some skills or knowledge to the participants. Examples of such
seminars include personal finance, web marketing, real estate, investing or
other types of seminars where the participants gain knowledge or tips about the
topic of discussion. I have been in a lot of seminars and most of it is
seminars on how to protect and preserve our environment. We have been
conducting seminars before too because it is one of our duties as an SK
official. Students like me need seminars so that we could empower our knowledge
on our field and explore on what things that we are missing today. As an
Information Technology student, we have to cope up and be updated on what is ne
win our field so that we will not be outdated and go with the fast pace
development of modern technology.
Alternative Mindset
Having a mindset what we do first when we have something to
achieve. It affects us and the people around us greatly. The kind of mindset
that what we have now may also affect our children because it is what we will
teach them. In terms of education, there are two kinds of mindsets, the usual
mindset and the alternative mindset. Actually I had mentioned this topic when I
was making a reflection paper for the first meeting. I have stated that “The
other part of the sharing that I liked most is the topic about mindsets. First
let us talk about the usual mindset. This kind of mindset is still being
practiced up to these days. It actually became our way of life. First is we
have to earn money, and then go to school, then get a job to earn money. This
cycle never ends. Some people even discriminate others that have not gone or
finished school. When you haven’t finished college, it is more likely you will
not get a good job even if you got the abilities compared of those who finished
college.
3 Idiots - Movie Reflection
The movie 3 Idiots was the most inspiring movie that I have
ever seen. I first saw that film 5 years ago when we were film viewing. I think
all high schools and universities are making their students watch this film
because almost everyone on my age has seen this movie.
Being a
college student is never easy especially when your course requires sweat and
blood just to pass one subject. But we should not quit no matter what it takes
when it is our only option to have a bright future so this movie is a very good
example to inspire all the students that are going on hard courses in college.
My Next Plane Ride
Riding an airplane is one of the most exciting parts of
human life. I think most of us wanted to know how it feels like. We think of
this like we are going to ride in a theme park ride. Some people who have not
ridden an airplane prefer to ride it not only because of the time that will be
saved for the trip, but also because they want to experience flight.
How to Propel Davao's Economy as a Technopreneur
We all know that Davao City is one of the progressive
countries here in our country. It is because we have a lot of natural resources
that is a good source of income such as bananas, pineapples and coconuts.
Because of these the economic status of Davao City is always stable. But being
a progressive city here in the Philippines is not enough for me, we should be
recognized all around the world. We should just not be known for having the
Durian or being the home of the majestic Philippine Eagle, we should also be
known in the field of Technopreneurship.
As we could notice, big business establishments like big malls, hotels,
banks and fast food chains and restaurants are coming out like mushrooms here
in our city. Actually this is a good start to make us reach our goal to be one
of the progressive cities all around the world, but one thing is still lacking;
unlike other countries such as Singapore and Japan we still do not use high
technology frequently.
My Preferred FTS Model

Field Trip and Seminars is one of the subjects that I look forward to since I was in first year. It is because even though I have a problem with motion sickness, I still love to travel to far places together with my close friends. So when the day came that I am really a third year standing student, I was really excited and hoping that I could join this batch. We had our first meeting about this last semester because we have to elect the officers that would work the papers for this subject. It is done early because this activity takes too much time to done; there are a lot of requirements to pass so that even before we are enrolled in this subject, we have to assure the officers that we could join and pass the requirements ahead of time. Actually it was summer vacation when the FTS president starts to remind us about the requirements but I was ignoring it because I am not sure if I can join this event.
Technopreneurship 1st Sharing
The facilitator in Technopreneurship 1 said that our
meetings in this subject will only run for five days, and the rest will be
checking and submission of projects. Now we are done on the first part of the
lecture. The things that I remember on the first lecture are about usual and
alternative mindset, the macro strategy and the ecosystem of Technopreneurship.
But not only that, the second meeting was also highlighted by the performance
of the virgins, absents on the first meeting, and the late comers. Just like
the first meeting, I also did come late but of course I have a valid reason
(which is still a stupid reason for Mr. RSG). Actually the reason why most of
us are late, that is because we are busy on the assignment which was given to
us on the first meeting. That assignment was about going to fastfood
restaurants, hotels and having a little strolling around Davao City.
