My Preferred FTS Model

Field Trip and Seminars is one of the subjects that I look forward to since I was in first year. It is because even though I have a problem with motion sickness, I still love to travel to far places together with my close friends. So when the day came that I am really a third year standing student, I was really excited and hoping that I could join this batch. We had our first meeting about this last semester because we have to elect the officers that would work the papers for this subject. It is done early because this activity takes too much time to done; there are a lot of requirements to pass so that even before we are enrolled in this subject, we have to assure the officers that we could join and pass the requirements ahead of time. Actually it was summer vacation when the FTS president starts to remind us about the requirements but I was ignoring it because I am not sure if I can join this event.
Okay too much of that introduction now let us talk about the question. My preferred FTS model of course it is Model A. It is not because it is the choice of the majority but because as I said earlier, I love to travel on far places. Even though we ain’t got money, my mom tries her best to provide the amount that I needed to join. So I am so thankful to her. I know it is too much to ask for her. “Twenty thousand pesos could help us a lot in our everyday life but I am going to spend it for myself alone, it may help us in our everyday living.” This always comes out in my mind every time I think of the money that is needed for the field trip. But since my mom is still finding ways to find such money, I think she understands what I feel. I just realized she was always like that; she keeps on pursuing to things like this even though it costs too much.
It is actually not my first time going to Manila. I was there thrice. The first time that I went to Manila was when I was in second year high school. We went there to compete on a street dancing competition. Though our food there was not quite good because of low budget, I still enjoyed staying there for one week. That week I think was the record holder of my first times. That day I learned that the traffic there was really terrible, and the humidity sometimes is unbearable too. It took three years before I came back to Manila. But Manila was not really our destination. I and my fellow SK members were invited to a five day youth camp in Baguio City. After that youth camp we stayed in Manila for two days and one night just to enjoy the moments being there. We went to the house of a relative of one of our SK councilor. This vacation taught us to be always alert when you’re in Manila. Always keep an eye on your personal belongings and stay alert on people around you, as the wallet of one of my colleague was snatched. My last visit on Manila was two years ago, it was also because of the youth camp in Baguio City. That last visit was the most unpleasant vacation of my life. I did not enjoy that vacation much because I was sick. But I was still happy though, because we were able to visit one of the famous landmarks in Manila, the Fort Bonifacio.
If hopefully I could join this field trip again and come back to Manila, I would be very happy because this is a brand new experience. Unlike my first three trips, this not only for enjoyment, it is for learning new things that I might only experience when I can join in this. Yes it is really expensive for the most of us but it rarely comes for people like me. As an IT student, it is very important to know what is going on and be updated in the happenings in my field. I have to know what the current developments are, what’s hot and what’s not to be able to come up with new ideas that could help my community, this country, or even the whole world. We should be able to see what might going to happen if we succeed in this field. I am not discriminating our city but we could not find the technology and other facilities that we need to know here. We may find a few but not quite good as compared to what we will see in Manila. I have thought of this thing because if we had the same resources and facilities in Manila or other progressive cities here in our country, our IT graduates would not aim going there for a job.

Visiting companies is not only the thing that excites me in joining this field trip. It is also because of the biggest IT event here in the Philippines, the Y4IT (I don’t know if it is a convention or what lol). Our Facilitator required us to submit an abstract of our bright ideas to present on the said event. I am currently working on that paper because I feel that my idea will get the attention of those who will check it and I will be recognized (pffffft). Yeah I strongly believe that my idea will win that said event because, ahm, I don’t know, I just feel it. By the way the details of that idea will be elaborated on the next post to be submitted on 30th of June. I don’t know if someone is already working on that to make it possible or if it is already being implemented in some parts of the world but I am still hoping that I will be the first in it. As my idol rapper Eminem says, “If you got only one shot, do not miss your chance to blow because opportunities come once in a lifetime.” Ok, do I have to explain it?
